This study examined Medicaid coverage for community health worker (CHW) services in 50 states. Key findings show that 24 states currently reimburse for CHW services, with 3 more, in the process of implementation. Coverage varies by state, including services covered, target populations, and payment methods. Most states offer CHW services to all Medicaid members, covering care coordination, coaching, advocacy, and outreach. The study aims to inform Connecticut’s efforts in implementing Medicaid payment for CHW services.
