The authors of this article explore the effectiveness of CHWs executing health promotion and social accountability interventions in Cambodia, Guatemala, Kenya, and Zambia. Using a control group for comparison, researchers sought to determine differences in care-seeking behaviors, skilled birth attendance, and post-natal care among pregnant adolescents and young adults. The study supports the case for providing multilevel community-oriented interventions for improved maternal and child health in rural settings.
