This pilot project aimed to help Hispanic agricultural workers with diabetes in the Texas Panhandle lower their A1C levels and improve their diabetes knowledge. Community coaches, all Hispanic women, were trained to deliver a 12-week diabetes coaching program to 13 clients. After the program, clients showed significant improvements in diabetes knowledge and a slight drop in A1C levels, though the reduction wasn’t statistically significant. The study highlights the importance of culturally appropriate training and coaching for workers in agriculture, emphasizing the need for programs that are feasible, sustainable, and responsive to their specific challenges.
