This study tested a new oral health training program for nurses and community health workers in Nigeria. The program improved participants’ knowledge and referral practices compared to a standard lecture, with many patients successfully referred for dental care. The results show that competency-based training can strengthen primary healthcare and support better integration of oral health into community care.
