In the Greater Mekong Subregion, community health workers (CHWs) play a crucial role in fighting malaria. With malaria cases dropping, there’s interest in expanding CHWs’ roles beyond malaria to keep services going. This review looked at 29 programs in the Asia Pacific where CHWs handle malaria and other health needs. Key factors for success include strong training, community support, steady funding, and good partnerships. For sustainable malaria efforts, CHW programs should be integrated into broader health services with solid policies and local health system support. More research is needed on unexamined programs and malaria outcomes.
