This study explores what motivates Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) in rural Nepal, crucial for achieving Primary Healthcare (PHC) goals. Through interviews and focus groups, motivations were found to be strong despite challenges. FCHVs are committed but face financial strain, lack of community recognition, and bureaucratic burdens. These issues undermine their motivation and livelihood security, impacting PHC delivery. The study highlights the need for financial support and improved community and organizational recognition to sustain FCHVs’ motivation and enhance PHC outcomes globally.
