This study aimed to create multisensory medical illustrations of Buruli ulcer (BU) to aid communication with at-risk communities. Community health workers’ experiences were explored using a Think Aloud method, focusing on their senses. Three key themes emerged: ‘Detection,’ ‘Help Seeking,’ and ‘Adherence,’ highlighting the senses’ role in healthcare. Based on these themes, “5D illustrations” were developed, incorporating sensory experiences for effective health communication. This approach could enhance medical illustrations for practical use.
