This study explores the experiences and perceptions of 487 Community Health Workers (CHWs) regarding mental illness. Findings reveal that CHWs perceive their role positively, enhancing communication skills, confidence, and ability to identify mental disorders. A significant number associate mental illness with religious beliefs but also advocate for compassionate treatment. The study highlights the importance of CHWs in community mental health efforts, emphasizing the interplay of professional, communal, and cultural factors.
