This paper investigated the role of local women village health volunteers during the COVID-19 pandemic in the northern province of Thailand. Researchers conducted in-depth interviews with 40 local village health volunteers from: Mae Hia, Fa Ham, Suthep, and Tha Sala sub districts. Results demonstrated that their roles were diverse during the pandemic.hTey acted as community health caregivers, Surveillance and Rapid Response Team, health facilitators and mediators, and managers of community health funds and resources mobilization. These findings emphasize the need for understanding local women’s perspectives on their roles in order to better enhance their ability to act as village health volunteers and, in turn, enhance the health of the communities they serve.
